Bedtime Stories with Xander - Chapter : 02
My only problem with this is his poor take on what punk is
I met Voltaire 10 years ago, he came to my city to one of the bars in the downtown area. I even got to shake his hand!
Keeps a level head and always respectful. Voltaire is the best 🖤
the further you watch the stream you definitely see the reason why they immediately point to goth as to why the guy could have murdered, and just like a lot of the things we point out to in hate, we usually do so due to our ignorance in that topic, and Voltaire kind of hit it a bit but didn't explore it. anything that people are ignorant about makes them afraid (perhaps to fear of the unknown) and we as a society really need to learn to stop judging things we don't know a whole lot about and be open about knowing more before we place any sort of judgement on it.
Glad to see this, being Conservative and a Christian/slightly Goth I don't necessarily advocate for Fox and they don't speak for me and my experiences or anything related to them. The reporters were biased to an extent but they asked good questions as well and everyone involved did a great job and was cordial.
He handled himself very well dealing with cable news talking heads.
To think I found out about him through Billy and Mandy
Iconic 🖤🐀🕸
Holy shit, I just found this guy's channel a week ago, I can't believe he was on the news 16 years ago!!!!!!
I actually got the chance to meet him too!
@@ChuckStegall777 Lucky, I've always wanted to meet him, his Gothic Homemaking series really inspired me to make a Gothic paradise like his, half my room is stuff inspired by him and his creations, my favorite being the crow on the skull, lol
Perfect! Intro crushes!!!
Voltaire is friggin awesome, love his RUclips channel and just love the guy as a person. He's funny, quirky, intelligent, and very respectful. A great goth role model.
nowadays everyone be trying to do their hair like that
What year was this?
2005!
Birds aren’t real 🦅
Why are they picking on goth ppl for ?.?
Oh my God I am sorry dark father Voltaire but you look like a dude I went to HighSchool with not a good character reference
Age has certainly treated you well!
When I hear about children committing murder I instantly wonder 'what went wrong'. As with the Columbine- killers. We now know that Eric was a psychopath and that Dylan was depressed. Its also possible that they may or may not have been bullied, and I honestly believe that bullying(combined with other factors) is a problem in many cases like, say, school shootings( some experts will disagree on this, though). Sue Klebold wrote a book about Dylan Klebold a few years ago(one of the Columbine- killers). She argues that there were many misconceptions about Columbine, from parents to even- yes- goth. But, also, like she says, Dylan had undiagnosed depression. And he had been trying to commit suicide years before. Theres something wrong, emotionally and psychologically, with a child that seeks out to do what the two boys at Columbine did, that sometimes the adults arent picking up on. I believe that most of them come from a place of anger and/ or hurt. So to blame the gothic subculure is wrong, even though its possible that some kids shouldnt be exposed to violence on Television and such(and there also shouldnt be easy access for them to get a firearm)
Years later Black women will adopt Voltaire’s hairstyles, and they will wear black and purple hair. 😂
I was lucky to catch this show in 05, LS, KG & all 3 Pontani sisters and this is the closest video I've found to the show I saw and KG & Los Straitjackets were great but man... Those sisters... ♥ wow.

handled with calm and politeness good stuff
Voltaire is the best representative of the gothic community.
He so young.
What a swell guy.
Great interview, brief as it was by necessity of the format, Voltaire! As he said : Had this young man been of most any other identity [save Punk, Emo, Rave, Steampunk, or an orientation like Trans, Gay, Junkie, etc] it is highly unlikely that he would be either focused on so intently or held up as an 'example' of a dangerous & even evil subculture, especially when he was still only a defendant. It is clearly because of his Goth identity that such a voyeristic horror attached itself to not only the case but him & his wider life. Voltaire is a marvellous person & a wonderful spokesman for The Gothic Scene as a whole. There are very good reasons many of us who are Goth, Punk, & otherwise 'alternative' in our identification respect him so much, for he has put himself out there for the wider world to attempt to champion our lifestyle & resolve the most damaging stigma that the square or 'normal' World holds about us. My father has been friends with Voltaire, & I have long looked up to both My Father & Voltaire as exemplary members of the alternative scene in general. Thanks for posting this!
I think most people don't understand that some goths had to... Blend into society just to work and live. I may where plain clothing doesn't mean I not goth, I watch the world as other try to change it when they can't, I see the desires of others and don't understand why the waste, and I still enjoy "hiding in shadows". Plus I scare so many people because they don't hear me. Guess I'm still invisible lol
he was lowkey annoyed and throwing shade. <3
wow im surprised FOX was so gentle with him
Voltaire explains Goth as though it's very spiritual and analytical. I love him... but every single person I've known who were 'goth' were absolutely horrible little shits who were too emo to accept that they had it pretty easy compared to other people and just became self-centered little fucking children no matter how old. Or they liked wearing black and that's basically it. Thanks for keeping it classy, Voltaire. In short, almost everyone deserves to die- but it's not up to us to kill them. Sit back and watch the world. Be a philosopher not an edgy teen who'll die at 30. Thank y'all.
I think you just described a lot of people. I love my life and have been through a multitude of hardships. I grew up poor, was diagnosed with cancer at 28, nearly died, lost body parts in the process, experienced abuse and things I won't even talk about. People who don't appreciate what they have are a dime a dozen. It doesn't mean they are bad. Being selfish and unappreciative is something a lot of people grow out of as their experiences broaden. I don't agree that everyone deserves to die. If you go through life with negative expectations for others, they will prove you right because you are looking for the bad. No one is perfect. Also, as someone who nearly died and may not make it to 30, it's not a topic you should take lightly. Death is a very serious topic.
+Vampirelenoire death is a serious topic, and no one in the world is really bad- they've been tainted and 99% don't grow out of it. They haven't really earned the life their given because they've done nothing with it. I'm not saying you have to cure a disease to something to matter- I'm saying if you go through life only learning from being impressionable- you're only making it worse for those whose lives actually could've gone somewhere and who could've been good people. But as I said, it isn't up to us to decide who that is- maybe it's the whole human race- though it's more likely just a lot of it and not all. That was in relation to people like school shooters and kids I went to school with that were a part of that scene that said empty death threats to me before they'd even met me because I told them the pain tolerance of our society has gone down. I also didn't say 'every goth' I said 'every goth I've known'. And it's true, they all believed that no matter how many beside them were in constant suffering- they ad more validation making them the 'stronger' individual. And when I said die at 30. I didn't mean that as an insult to anyone who would die around that age, Davis died at 31, I'm obviously not insulting you. I'm saying it's an epidemic. People are killing themselves younger and younger and I don't believe it's social media or an actual spike in depression I believe we're doing it to ourselves because I've seen it happen. Death is serious and so is this. If they'd prefer to get themselves of this earth sooner, I'll allow them to. I wish no harm upon them but they do so much harm to themselves there's nothing we can do to stop it and if they never learn from it, that's on them and yes, I'll be honest, I don't care enough to do anything about it- I care enough about society to try and make the mindset stop though whether it works or not.
"Fox new..." Oboy...
Voltaire made a fool out of them and I'm glad.
Volitaire doesnt even look at the camera the whole time, he simply does not give a fuck
he was annoyed, and rightfully so.
Silvia Foxworth for an annoyed dude hes pretty chill
he was lowkey annoyed at their stupidity. you can see it in his eyes at one point. and he called them silly indirectly. love him.
Silvia Foxworth I love you
love you more!
Scott was most likely an edgy mansonite
Honestly we all have that little demon inside. We as human beings make the choice to tap into that demon inside. Now stop blaming fads and trends and look at yourself if the mirror. it's your choice not anyone else's.
I love Voltaire. He is a great guy and very entertaining. I really want to see him live one day.
"Goth movement." ....guys, the gothic subculture has been around for literally hundreds of years. This is just part of the world at this point, it's evolved over the course of years, but it's always existed. Stop calling it a movement damn it. I'm not sure why this irks me so much, but I love history and I've always paid attention to the subcultures that existed throughout. Gothic has always existed, it just changes. This coming from someone who, in the sense of clothing and hobbies, is not a goth.
Nikolai Lugo : The Goth subculture refers specifically to the music scene that evolved from punk rock in the late 70's that was known as post-punk Goth-rock (Batcave) and which incorporated together the cultural referencies of the punk movement, the Romantic DARK Neo-GOTHIC literature, fashion and art of the late of the Victorian period (late XIX century) and the Horror movie classics (silent black and white films and Hammer's movies) ! Gothic is a more broad therm than GOTH and it refers to embracing life and appreciating the beauty of its darker aspects (we are old souls... we show our sadness for the human condition... we reflect our DARK SIDE... it is present within each and every one of us! All GOTHS are Gothic but not everyone who likes Gothic or dark things is a GOTH! And please don't confuse the Halloween or Emo bullshit with GOTH!
Anyththing they distrust or dislike they call. . . "a movement", because they want to play up the threat of something. "Movement" obviously sounds more dangerous than subculture.
More evidence of that Voltaire is awesomeness!
"Goth Murder Madness" is an excellent name for a band.
When I saw it I thought it might have been some album I’d somehow missed lol
Die Swan : I guess so... in a satirical way!
Die Swan Ooooooo
How to explain goth to a non-goth. You don't.
I still think Voltaire looks like Bal from Stargate SG-1
The 2000's were a mess
Samuel Freakin' Adams as opposed to 2016/2017?... I would say the early 2000s is like caffeine to today which is cocaine..
John Fradono If that's the progression, God help us in 2030
@@ottogren1 oh please no, its only 2020 and everythings fuckin mad right now.
Ah yes the time where people thought shitposting was hacking and that Goths were satanic murderers that eat babies.
I'm so glad Voltaire got involved to educate people on what goth is here
